Post Workout.// Fitness.

Hi All!

It certainly has been quite some time since I have posted on BlondieLovesGinger – please understand that sometimes life takes unexpected turns and priorities need to be set in which this blog did not make the cut to be a priority at that time, however things have started to look better and brighter –  both my partner and I are back at writing for you all through our Lifestyle Blog.

Let me start of by saying that both of Us take our health very seriously. We like to be fit and like to live an active lifestyle which does take place outdoors. We love nature, enjoy exploring and personally I believe that it is a lot better to head out on a walk/hike/bikeride or other then to run the miles in an enclosed environment such as a gym or fitness studio, however in saying that, the cooler weather makes the fitness studio more appealing 😉

I have just recently thought about that there must be other options than Post Workout Protein Powders which are pre-mixed commercially, available in absolutely any sizing…yes I am looking at all of you men out there bulking up to look like the next Hulk. To live healthily, these already processed foods cannot be good.

I have therefore decided to find out what ingredients our body needs especially after a workout to allow the same effect as a protein shake purchased from our fitness studio or supermarket.

I am a lover of smoothies and I am pretty sure I have won my partner over with it as well 🙂 For my personal post workout “protein shake” I have decided to add various fruits/veggies and quark. Quark is high in protein and low in fat AND because of its high level of casein (a slow release protein)  does help with muscle build.

For this particular post workout smoothie recipe  which you have seen on my Instagram I used:

1 Banana, handful of green kale, handful of baby spinach leaves, one fig, handful of frozen mango and a handful of frozen blueberries and a big spoon of quark. All of these ingredients can be purchased at your supermarket.

The result: DELICIOUSLY – YUMMY!

Berry Smoothie

Basically pretty simple sort of recipe and it’s super refreshing as already mentioned on my Instagram account.

What you need:
Handful of seedless grapes (I used red seedless ones)
A punnet of blueberries
One banana
Some rice milk as your liquid ingredient

Method:
Put all in a blender and mix well until smooth texture.
Enjoy!

Homemade Muesli.

Packed with super yum and healthy nutrients and of course a lot of energy to get you through the day! Personally I think stepping away from all the preservative foods, pre-made meals will keep you healthier already.

The same goes for food, of course I can purchase muesli bars at my local supermarket or health food store but isn’t it nicer to made something yourself?

Something that has

a) no preservatives

b) is not pre-made

c) packed with healthy goodness

I have to admit that I owe credit to the owner of this delicious recipe.

Ingredients:

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup desiccated coconut

1/2 cup wheatgerm

1/2 cup sesame seeds

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup pepitas seeds (pumpkin seeds)

1 cup sultanas

125g butter

1/2 cup honey (I used Pureharvest Organic Honey – Raw)

1/3 brown sugar

Method

Grease and line a baking pan with baking paper, I had no baking paper so used a little bit of butter in the pan to avoid the muesli sticking to the pan later on.

Cook oats, wheatgerm, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds in a saucepan over medium heat until golden in color.Transfer to a bowl allow to cool then stir in the sultanas.

In another small saucepan cook the brown sugar, honey and butter. This process is done over medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil then reduce heat to a simmer. Mixture should form a soft ball when a little amount is dropped into cold water. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until combined.

Spoon mixture into pan and use the back of a spoon to press down firmly, let cool.         Store in an airtight container for up to seven days.

Yummy goodness!!!

Have a great day,

The Team at

OOTD Autumn2016

OOTD Autumn2016

Goodness me.. it certainly has been a very long time since I have posted any #OutfitOfTheDay posts. Well, you know .. time flies as they say and I could not agree more.

While the hot Summer days are more or less over now and Autumn has decided to finally mark its presence, so are my #AnotherOutfitOfTheDay blog posts. 🙂

Who thinks Autumn is great for taking Fitness, Health and Wellness a lot more serious now then to squeeze through the hot early mornings where it is already well up to thirty degrees before 8 AM!

My partner and I both enjoy keeping fit, we currently attend Derrimut 24:7 in the South eastern suburbs every so often. We also enjoy the outdoors and loooove to chill out over the nice cup of tea and a good book, however we have also decided to keep well active and healthy over winter to not get any ideas of putting on the winter weight. 😮

Autumn is the time to rug up, put on your runners and head outside.Brace the wind, the showers of rain, the leaves which have turned into beautiful autumn colors and are now falling off the trees and enjoy the pure nature and this incredible season.

New YOU.

Why I somewhat think that it can be seriously over the top to plan an entire year, filled out with goals to achieve and changes to be made – I do believe to have a small amount of things I either want to work towards, achieve or simply to have new things i would like to try out.

For this year, I have decided to do more Studies, this time focusing on Equines, horses and their nutrition, the majority of girls love horses, right?

In addition I already have looked into becoming a qualified Pilates + Yoga Instructor … the full outlook and intentions are still being kept under wraps. However, as it does qualify to be within the Fitness category of this Lifestyle Blog, I can tell you that my goal in #2016 is to ride the point-to-point two-hundred-and-ten Gold Fields Track with my partner of three year, yup… he is the kind of laid back, outdoorsy, adventure seeking kinda guy with enough charm and sense of humor to put comedians to shame!

Let 2016 begin …

Summer at full bloom

Summer at full bloom

Sunshine, blue skies, denim shorts, work boots and a t-shirt is all you need while out in the garden. I’m currently trying to harvest my very own home grown tomatoes. The smell is amazing + so is the feeling of being able to know exactly where the harvest was from compared to making the same purchase at the local supermarket.

While being outside enjoying this incredible weather (we all waited extremely patiently for it too), I did notice that my lemon tree has small little green lemons & two were ready to be harvested also. My cumquats plant looks quite radiant too, my mom had previously made some jam with it and it tasted delicious.

lemontree

In addition I noticed that both my apple trees (some relation of Granny Smith & Pink Lady, I’m guessing) are not far off – followed by my pear tree which is holding a large amount of pears. #yum

peartree

I am someone who really loves the outdoors + country lifestyle, even though I have always been a city girl. I truly enjoy having both my own vegetables & fruit trees, knowing exactly what and where I have planted them + being able to head outside for harvest season. #bestofbothworlds

tomatoes2 tomatos

While these mentioned trees and plants are only the very start of what is still to come, I’m talking strawberry plants, plum trees, mini vineyard, cherry trees, lime tree, apricot tree, nectarines + peaches trees and the list literally goes on even further. #veggies&fruits

cumquartz appletree

It would be wonderful to be able to plant everything on my list but that might take a while at a whole lot of maintaining, but it would be so worth it as it is not just a plant or tree but something full of healthy goodness. Clearly I am a bit of a health freak, don’t get me started though.

Happy harvest,

Hair + Beauty = At home Products

Hair + Beauty = At home Products

Good Afternoon Y’all,

What am I going to write you on this beautiful mildly warm Summers Day?

Most of you are like me always looking for new products for Hair and Body. Personally I am well aware of the cosmetic products that are currently on the market, hair volumizers, thickeners for thinning hair, protein hair masks, various body scrubs, body lotions and the list goes on. The majority of these Products are commercially processed, so personally I believe that natural products are the best products.

Below I am giving you some natural hair remedies, products which are not only amazing but also work wonders. What’s good for you is good for your hair right?

Coconut Oil + Honey:

Say ‘Good bye ‘ to damaged hair and ‘Hello‘ to velvety results.

This mask is best made with 1 1/2 tbs of Honey and 2 tbs of Coconut Oil, mix the two together. This hair mask is best applied to wet hair and for best results leave in hair for forty minutes.
Voila! #hairmask #glowinghair #moisturemask #sexyfeel #feminine

Raw Egg + Olive Oil

Super natural yet slightly an odd combi, however take about 2tbs of Olive Oil + one raw egg and mix the two together then massage into hair and leave for approximately thirty minutes. This mask is very protein rich and something your hair will love! Try it out! #hairgrowth #proteinpacked #hairmask

Body Scrub with Ingredients straight out of your Kitchen Pantry

Make this scrub your own fancy shmancy exfoliating scrub, simply mix either coconut oil + brown sugar or Sea salt + Olive Oil and put them in little containers. The proof will be in your seriously glowing skin. Ah-mazing! #sexy #bodyscrub #healthy #natural #outtayourpantry #sexy #exfoliator #glowingskin

I hope you all have an amazing and fulfilling day + give your skin and hair the natural beauty regimes they so desperately need for good health, glowing skin and well being!

Little Thai Princess

So.. for those of you living in Melbourne, AU I am seriously telling you to check out this absolutely beautiful restaurant,

‘Little Thai Princess’

located right across from Gardiner Station or if driving take the Burke Road Exit.

It has been my very first time there and while it is very beautiful it is also quite unique and stunning in architectural design and its interior design choices.

I certainly can say that I absolutely enjoyed my Meal there, its great being there with a small group this time it was my boyfriend and his mom, his sister + her boyfriend…quite the cozy group I must add.

While we dined on a Princess Platter, Coconut Prawns, Cashew Nut Chicken, Chicken Satay, Green Curry + Jasmine Rice along with Roti Bread with homemade Peanut Sauce, I could not help but think about what a nice Cuisine Thai, Asian Cultures actually have. As you can tell I always love to try new foods and this was definitely an experience beyond expectations, it was simply delicious!

For anyone wanting to try new foods or for those who enjoy these dishes its literally the place to go to! Excellent Customer Service all within an adorably nicely presented setting.

Foods to indulge in that is for sure.

Have a great day,

A.x
