#RoadtripAroundOz| Hervey Bay, QLD

And our trip takes Us along the way to the beautiful coast of Hervey Bay.

Being a coastal town it’s also hugely known for the Southern Humpback Whales which pass the coast through their migration to Antartica. These whales come to Hervey Bay to raise their calves, relax and play in these beautiful waters which protects them from any predator.

We were lucky to get a good deal on our whale watching tour on the M.S Amaroo – I made sure my cameras battery was charged and I brought all my photography equipment also, mind you it consisted off a few lenses, a few cables and a charger so no biggie. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

At 8:30am it was on the boat (front seats of course!) and off into the bay we went. It took around 45 minutes to get Us to where per radio to the other crews out there we soon spotted a mother and it’s calf. My goodness are these animals beautiful! They gracefully swamp past the boat and we just all watched in awe.

Our whale watching tour went until 12:30pm with Morning tea being provided on board, which gave us plenty of time to spot other pot of whales in the area which was a definite guarantee on this particular day.

It didn’t take long until we spotted a young whale calf breaching! It was the cutest thing We have ever seen.

My camera has taken the most incredible photographs which I will post to my Instagram account once I am back home as I didn’t take my phone in case I was to loose it on the boat or worse .. in the ocean.

For you all out there ever wanting to see these beautiful mammals, I really encourage you to take a trip to Hervey Bay. It is a beautiful place and I am sure you’ll enjoy your stay here as much as We have !

#RoadtripAroundOz | Bundaberg QLD via Rockhampton, Gladstone, Agnes Waters and 1770

And we have arrived in Bundaberg, QLD where Bundaberg Rum is produced! Super exciting times ahead … Distillery Tour in the morning (I will say it now: Prost! ๐Ÿป), followed by a Seafood Platter for lunch and a Ginger Beer Tour in the afternoon.

Anyhow, I should tell you about the drive. Quite exciting for Wildlife Enthusiasts + all Wanderlusters alike. Leaving Longreach you’ll see Kangaroos, Emus and Eagles (I made my partner pull over to the side road a fair bit just to get that perfect shot๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ“ธ)

You will head inland yet again however trust you are heading towards the coast of Rockhampton.  Now remembering that Rockhampton will only be a super quick pit-stop to stretch the legs and grab something to eat. It’s then back on the road to Emerald. Great place to stay is Kin Kora Village Caravan Park, just be careful which spot you pick for your unpowered tent site … my partner was eager to choose the spot this time and this is how it went down ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

โ€‹โ€‹
The spot chosen was right in the path of the plane takeoff and landing strip ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™ˆ

Anyhow we did some Grocery Shopping in town this morning and off we went via Agnes Waters and Seventeen Seventy to Bundaberg!

#RoadtripAroundOz | Marree to Birdsville via Birdsville Track

If you think you have experienced the incredible landscape, road and weather conditions of the Australian Outback think again.

Our Roadtrip takes Us from Marree up North just over the South Australian – Queensland border to Birdsville.

Let me explain to you that this 520km track (i drove all the way except the big puddles where we swapped drivers ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ“ธ) needs a lot of preparation, physical health, knowledge on road conditions and potentially even someone who has done this trip before.

The terrain can include anything from rain and heat, water over road to flooding to sections of pure gravel & rock and even sand pits so care when driving is advised.

Once we arrived in Birdsville it was straight for the Caravan Park (you can not miss it as there is only one in town), set up of the tent and off to the pub for dinner. At the Pub it was Roast with Vegetables as the only item listed on the Menu but my goodness was it delicious plus every possible “Tom, Bob and Billy” was there so it was absolutely incredible to mingle with other travelers and locals alike.

Time for some rest now.

#RoadtripAroundOz | Via Hahndorf, Adelaide and Port Augusta, S.A.

Having had not much luck with the weather ever since we started our trip especially the blackout in the entire state, we drove through the German town of Hahndorf just for a quick look around, bypassing Adelaide and heading straight for Port Augusta.
While the drive was rather somewhat slow and steady it gave Us time for some brain riddles and jokes while I started working on my next post of #RoadtripAroundOz

We arrived at Port Augusta in the early afternoon and soon decided o stay the night at Foreshore Caravan Park. Personally, I would count this town best for a stop-over and not exactly the nicest of holiday places to stay at.

Apologies for anyone thinking otherwise but it’s a personally point of view here.

As I mentioned earlier we didn’t have the best of forecasts, Port Augusta was not very cooperative either in this matter:

We decided against staying in the tent and opted for a budget cabin instead. It was soon time to catch up on the News and off to bed for our journey to continue the next morning.

Good Night + until the morning,
