#RoadtripAroundOz | Longreach, QLD

And our next stop is Longreach, still regarded as an Outback town and located in pretty much the centre of the state.

Longreach is a medium sized town with a nice Main Street and of course the well known Stockman’s Hall of Fame & Qantas Founders Museum.

We arrived at Longreach Tourist Park in our ute and ready to pitch the tent. While at the Reception we had a look through some of the tours which were offered and decided on a Package which got us into both museums and also onto a Sunset River Cruise with Liveshow.

If I could have I would have stayed in Longreach permanently! The people are so lovely and having a Stockman in his long shirt, jeans and Akubra hat stand behind me at the Post Office made my jaw drop (almost like a little kid meeting their favourite celebrity!πŸ˜‚). Of course there are just normal people but the way they work in remote isolated stations – through sweat, blood and tears makes you really appreciate the work they do, one tend to show a lot more respect. Their stories are inspirational + full of pride.πŸ™πŸ»

For anyone ever visiting Longreach, stay a few nights! Do the station tours, visit the museums and book yourself in for the Drovers River Sunset Cruise with Outback Aussie Tours at Smithy’s – they are absolutely wonderful and you will really have the best time enjoying a cruise on the Thomson River, a two course meal some damper and a cup of tea all while being entertained by the incredible John Hawkes!

Greetings from Us to you while I finish writing this blog post and enjoy the beautiful sunset and glass of wine on this magnificent cruise βœ¨πŸŒ…β›΅οΈ

#RoadtripAroundOz | Marree to Birdsville via Birdsville Track

If you think you have experienced the incredible landscape, road and weather conditions of the Australian Outback think again.

Our Roadtrip takes Us from Marree up North just over the South Australian – Queensland border to Birdsville.

Let me explain to you that this 520km track (i drove all the way except the big puddles where we swapped drivers πŸ˜‚πŸ“Έ) needs a lot of preparation, physical health, knowledge on road conditions and potentially even someone who has done this trip before.

The terrain can include anything from rain and heat, water over road to flooding to sections of pure gravel & rock and even sand pits so care when driving is advised.

Once we arrived in Birdsville it was straight for the Caravan Park (you can not miss it as there is only one in town), set up of the tent and off to the pub for dinner. At the Pub it was Roast with Vegetables as the only item listed on the Menu but my goodness was it delicious plus every possible “Tom, Bob and Billy” was there so it was absolutely incredible to mingle with other travelers and locals alike.

Time for some rest now.

#RoadtripAroundOz| Marree, S.A.

The next morning it was off from Port Augusta (who were still trying to get their businesses going from the Super Storm 24/48 hours prior!) into the Flinders Ranges at _____ for a few nice walks and some hiking! They have beautiful lookouts + scenery, perfect for your next capture on your camera, however for Us the weather was a bit of a challenge so we together made the decision to keep driving to Marree, S.A.

I have to be honest that I slept most of the way here but I did ask my partner a few questions about what Marree was like…

Well… Marree is an outback town with a population of round about twenty residents including Aboriginals. Marree has one pub, one railway line and one small Caravan Park. Yup and that’s it for y’all !

Outback Greetings from

#RoadtripAroundOz | Via Hahndorf, Adelaide and Port Augusta, S.A.

Having had not much luck with the weather ever since we started our trip especially the blackout in the entire state, we drove through the German town of Hahndorf just for a quick look around, bypassing Adelaide and heading straight for Port Augusta.
While the drive was rather somewhat slow and steady it gave Us time for some brain riddles and jokes while I started working on my next post of #RoadtripAroundOz

We arrived at Port Augusta in the early afternoon and soon decided o stay the night at Foreshore Caravan Park. Personally, I would count this town best for a stop-over and not exactly the nicest of holiday places to stay at.

Apologies for anyone thinking otherwise but it’s a personally point of view here.

As I mentioned earlier we didn’t have the best of forecasts, Port Augusta was not very cooperative either in this matter:

We decided against staying in the tent and opted for a budget cabin instead. It was soon time to catch up on the News and off to bed for our journey to continue the next morning.

Good Night + until the morning,

#RoadtripAroundOZ | Robe, SA

Hi Y’All, how we all traveling?

It’s time to start the next leg of your trip rather early however before you start the engine and go, head into down and get takeaway from Cafe Bahloo. They make the greatest Hot Chocolates and Vanilla Lattes (don’t forget to also grab their Custard Apple Muffin!!😍 YUM!) Before leaving & If you want to you could also check out Portlands Maritime Museum, it is located  inside the Information Centre. Check it out for some insight into the history and it is perfect for the kids too.

Time now to hit the road.
This part of your journey to Robe will take a little bit off the coastal scenery and more inland, you’ll see lush green grass, dairy cattle and lots of sheep πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ» and it will take you the South Australian- Victorian Border, how exciting! Please make sure you follow ALL instructions for quarantine in terms of food related items.

Once arriving in Robe you will see that it is a small fishing town on the Limestone Coast of Australia.

However, even though it’s small it has lots to offer:

For the blokes or anyone over the legal drinking age of 18 try out Robe Town Brewery for some beers crafted 100% naturally using traditional and ancient technics!🍻🍺 Prost!

Ladies, lets chit chat at Boutique Coffee Roasting House – Mahalia, a cute little cafe just off the Main Street nicely tucked away down Flint Street. β˜•οΈ

And for the kids it’s time to explore the wonderful Marine animals that live in our oceans. For this experience head to the Sealife Centre at Robe. Gummy shark, Lobster, Crab, Nemo + Seahorses are just some of the animals that call this place home. It certainly is worth to check out!

For any other resting spots or perfect spots for lunch head down to the coast across from the Information Centre. Picnic tables and an amenities block is all you need. Time to take in the views and breathe in the fresh sea air.
