Seed. Plant. Harvest.

Perfectly understandable for everyone, right?

Easy to do, right? Well … Wrong (sorry for all those who thought otherwise, trust me I did too at first.)

It is definitely not easy growing your own vegetables. Sure enough you buy seeds and plant them, thinking in a few weeks you can harvest all your vegetables and enjoy them…well it is not that easy.

Different Vegetables need to be planted at different times of the year. We have so far planted a variety of winter vegetables such as Leeks, Beetroot, Parsnip, Broccoli, Bok Choy, Cauliflower, Onions (including shallots) and Lettuce.

It has been a few weeks now, some vegetables have grown a fair bit but it is nowhere near what you would be able to buy at the supermarket

— all takes time + patience —

Our Iceberg lettuces have about 4 leaves at the moment (which I think sounds so funny..) so it will be a while longer yet before any can be identified to be a proper Iceberg lettuce just like those you can buy at Woolworth, Aldi or Coles, here in Australia.

But despite all of this time consuming gardening activity of ours, it has certainly been fun.

to be continued.
